Derrick Henry Wears BLACK LIVES MATTER Suit

The names George Floyd, Tamir Rice and Breonna Taylor — among many, many others — are displayed on the suit.

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry sent quite the message before the team’s Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos on Monday. Henry traveled to Denver wearing a suit featuring the names of victims of racial injustice and police brutality. The Titans shared those pictures as part of the travel gallery on the team’s website. Henry’s suit is black, and features the names of victims in white.

A number of NFL teams and players took action to protest racial injustice and police brutality in Week 1. The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans opened the season with a moment of unity. They were booed by fans. The Minnesota Vikings hosted George Floyd’s family at their Week 1 game against the Green Bay Packers. The Atlanta Falcons named late civil rights leader John Lewis as an honorary captain. Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich took a knee during the national anthem.

The Miami Dolphins stated they would remain in the locker room during the national anthem. The team also released a video ripping the NFL for its “empty gestures” in the fight against racial injustice and police brutality.
